Kindle – Best Selling Item On Amazon! Not Surprised, Kindle Led The Way Before iPad & Android Devices

Posted on January 26th, 2011 by Tony Toigo

Amazon’s best selling item is now the Kindle. When it comes to emerging trends, they have hit the nail on the head like nobody’s business. Although the Kindle has been around, it now has significant competition. But, the underlying concept and abilities are what make it so popular and a natural for a world in a significant state of transition.

299kindle

Out with the old and in with the new I say! What are we waiting for? In time, given the many devices being offered with Android and the new smash hit from Apple, their iPad, we will begin to witness powerful transitions taking place as more and more people adopt this game changing technology. Basically, paper is dead. And it’s about time too.

I’ve been writing and commenting now for some time about the powerfulness of this transition taking place that’s being enabled by these new devices that eliminate the need to produce DVD’s, CD’s, Paper Books, News Papers, Magazines, paper documents and the list goes on and on. In time, just about every physical piece of media will be offered in digitized form via these devices while transmitting every bit via wireless airwaves.

489kindle

The reason that this is so very important and powerful is simply due to the fact that very little energy is required to move and store these new digital forms to devices such as the Kindle. That equates to lowered dependence upon precious resources such as petroleum, lowered carbon footprint, lowered overall pollutants, lowered dependence on foreign energy resources, increase in national security. This is only a partial list but indicates some the most challenging and controversial issues that we face today. And these devices address each with flying colors across the board of the various priorities we hold dear respectively.

Simply put, if you wish to be the change that you seek, then a great way to achieve that as a perfect beginning would be to go out and purchase a device such as Kindle, Android or iPad today.

Free Anti-Spam Software/Technique That Works Surprisingly Well!

Posted on June 18th, 2009 by Tony Toigo

© 2009 Anthony Toigo

Within the past year, I have been using Gmail’s secure send and receive servers for my mail repository and spam filtering. As a result, the overall incidence of spam has been reduced dramatically. I also have shared this technique with friends who also report similar amazing results.

One friend shared with me that he was processing over 500+ spam emails on Monday mornings and that it was such a waste of his productive time in his business. This 500 spam email result before Gmail was implemented took place while using one of the more popular spam filtering firewall software programs. He claimed that that did work but not effectively enough. 500 spam messages was just too much to have to sort through. He was actually considering changing his email address before we added the Gmail account. Now, after placing Gmail in between his ISP and his Outlook inbox, that number is several nuisance emails to deal with in the morning instead. It works that well. And now, my friend gets to spend time running his business and now making more money instead of wasting his valuable time dealing with spam.

Spam continues to remain an ever increasing issue for just about everyone. If you are like most and like myself, you have changed email addresses on more than one occasion. If you own your own domain like many do, and if you are using email for business, it becomes even that much more difficult or more like impossible to change your address. Although, some of the email service providers seem to be doing a descent job of filtering out the bad stuff, it is never an exact science. Either the spam gets past the filter or the filter screens what is not spam

New technologies are on the way that will virtually eliminate spam completely through sender/receiver authentication that will absolutely identify and verify who it is that is sending you mail and who you are as the receiver. But until that happens, we will have to continue to do the best we can with what we have. Server side spam monitoring and management such as Spam Assassin etc and PC installed anti spam programs do work but they can cost money and are not always completely effective.

If you are spending an inordinate amount of time sorting through spam to make certain that something important has not been flagged incorrectly and filtered I would highly recommend that you adopt this technique. In business, losing an important email can mean the difference between making a sale or not and whether you get to make the car or house payment that month or not. Mission critical is the key phrase and email has in fact become “Mission Critical”.

In this article, I will provide a simple method that is fairly easy to set up and that will work for most small enterprise and personal email account customers who are able to forward their email from their ISP mail server to an alternative address. This will be accomplished using Gmail as the collection repository in lieu of your normal email provider’s server. Your existing host ISPs server will simply act as a relay going forward once everything is set up properly. Gmail will then begin to collect your mail where you can pick it up using a secure login once the transition has been completed.

Below is the description of each step and what the procress should look like. At the end of this document are more specific step by step instructions that are what I use and what I provide to my friends when they wish to employ this feature for themselves.

Step One: You must first verify with your ISP that they can and that they are willing to forward your email to another address. Without this you will not be able to make this work. Simply the forward is called a relay without storage at your ISP.

Step Two: After verification, you will need to go to http://www.gmail.com and select “Create New Account” Try to secure an address that makes sense to you. But don’t worry too much about the name because it is not really that important and will not be the name that will show up when you send email from your mail client.

Step Three: After you have set up the new account with Gmail, you will need to go back into that account and change some basic settings and to also create and verify your true real email address and set that as the default reply to address. Gmail is very good about this and makes it very convenient.

Step Four entails clicking on the link in Gmail that shows the step by step procedure to set up your particular email client if you are using one. They currently support the most popular clients such as Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express as well as Apple Mail and Entourage Mail etc.

If you have done everything correctly, you should now have two email accounts at a minimum on your computer. Once you have followed the setup process in step four, it is time to test to make sure that everything is working properly with the new account. Send outgoing test emails to your existing account from the new account to verify that the email signature is your real address. Also test the incoming by sending a test email from your existing email address account.

After performing the necessary tests, it is now time to contact your ISP to request the switch over to forward your email to the new Gmail account. You must give them the exact account email address information to insure that your mail will be forwarded properly and that it will be a smooth transition for you. After the forward has been done, all of your mail should now be deposited into your Gmail account for collection from that point forward and it should not be collecting in the account with your ISP anymore.

Gmail will immediately eliminate any mail that comes from known servers that are spam and not ligitimate. This in itself will eliminate a large majority of spam from ever reaching your account to begin with. These known servers never distribute legitimate email anyway. The next level of filtering will place suspected mail into a spam folder that is accessable from the Gmail interface that you can get to through your web browser.

There is a training period that usually takes about 1-2 weeks that will probably require you to check the spam folder on gmail for ligitimate mail. Simply log in to Gmail, select Spam and go through the list, clicking the check box on email that you want to receive. After this, mouse click the button that says “Not Spam.” This will train Gmail to now recognize that mail as ligitimate and move it to the inbox where it will download to your inbox on your computer.

You will also have to occasionally tell gmail that particular mail is spam that arrives in your inbox. This does happen on occasion but not too frequently.

And that’s pretty much it! I hope that this is a helpful tool for you and that is saves you a lot of time that will free you to do other things that are more important to you.

Please provide feedback here in the comment forms provided as to the results you achieve from using this technique and Gmail’s excellent email servers and services.

Also, if you use this technique and find that it helps free up a substantial amount of your time and allows you to be more productive and profitable, donations are always appreciated and accepted at: (craigslist [at] toigo.net)

Note: This setting is helpful if you want redundancy for email storage and if you tend to keep email for a long time. This can be great if forbid, your computer were to crash someday. Choose the setting that suits your own habits and preferences.

Click “Save Settings” or “Save Settings”

Section 3 Configure your email client: click on the hyper link provided in Gmail for your particular instructions and follow them.

When you have completed everything and all is working smoothly and well, you will want to either eliminate the original pop 3 accounts in your email client or simply disable them from attempting to access download mail from your ISPs mail servers. Also note that it is important to make sure that the new Gmail outgoing email account is selected as your default mail sending account.

Checking Out A New iPhone App For Tweeters And….

Posted on June 3rd, 2009 by Tony Toigo

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for stopping by to visit.

At the moment, I am currently looking at a new iPhone app for Twitter that seems really cool. I want to check it out completely first before introducing it though.

In the interim, check out my about page etc on my new site here until I have more content to post. Plenty of ideas and things to talk about that I hope everyone finds interesting and helpful.

I started this site to expand and extend the conversation within but also beyond Twitter and to provide and share personal experiences of being online and having the “Tweeting experience”. Twitter generates so much diverse information and stimulus in such a constant streaming way that deserves talking about all on its own.

There are so many directions that we can take with Twitter that goes beyond the obvious and probably beyond the original intent of its creators. For example, selling on Twitter was probably anticipated by the creators considering the experiences of digg. This seems to be on many peoples minds at the moment and maybe this would be a great way to open some dialogue on the matter.

Page 2 iPhone Twitter App And……

Posted on June 3rd, 2009 by Tony Toigo

……Continued from page 1.

So, the big question is: Can anyone make money on Twitter from direct marketing efforts in a long term sustainable way and what effect or non effect is taking place right now as a result of the barrage of marketing Tweets?

There has been a great deal of focus and outright encouragement from online marketers directed at new followers on Twitter that deserves attention and discussion. From what I have read, it seems that there are many opinions about sending out marketing tweets and how other tweeters feel about that. All input and feedback on this topic is appreciated if you wish to share your ideas and feelings on the subject, you are encouraged to do so.

From my own personal viewpoint, it seems that many marketers who have created some form or another of electronic intellectual property that is sellable, are encouraging newer tweeters to directly sell those products as unknowing affiliate sales channels with little consideration for the new tweeter while making promises of gaining massive wealth. Nothing wrong with anyone making money. It’s important to know how to do that but is it possible that new tweeters are being misled in some or many of these cases?

I hope that you keep checking back to see what I am blogging about and if you have an idea or something that you would like me to write about, please feel free to enter your request in the comment form below.

Also, I will be setting up my bio very soon to provide a better idea of who I am and what I have been doing with my life and what I am currently planning and working on. Some of it is in my About page and some more below.

In short for now, In my professional life: I have driven race cars professionally and won races in my career, been a successful and creative entrepreneur for most of my life, built businesses from scratch with little funding. Many from the spark of an idea and some that went from zero to $20k per month within several months. One of my most successful ventures ended up becoming a multi million dollar telephone company that spawned from a simple idea of inspiration that people using cell phones would like to pay a lower rate. What a concept. Right? At that time, the average cell phone bill for business users was close to $300 per month per phone.

Page 3 iPhone Twitter App And…….

Posted on June 3rd, 2009 by Tony Toigo

…..Continued from page 2

An interesting part of the story about my phone company was that when I started out, no one else was offering what I was except for one other company that I learned about. And, most of my customer prospects simply did not believe that I could save them money on their cell phone usage! That’s what is called market brainwash and it’s still going on today. I have had many ideas before and since and continue to generate many new ones that I will be sharing with all of you in time-very soon. Financially, I have been a millionaire more than once and hit the skids more than once as well. And, my family has really come to appreciate what it’s like to live with an entrepreneur. It’s not for everyone.

My ride so far has been pretty amazing and wild in retrospect. like a trip down the rapids much of the time with lots of changes taking place. One thing that I have come to recognize is that no matter what I am compelled and inspired to do, I am always starting anew like everyone else would have to when change comes about; with the necessary learning curve and dedication that is required to bring something new to fruition. Others have had similar experiences relating to the way our world changes at times. I think that the difference for some is only that they have been practicing this for longer than others. The practice it seems prepares the individual for the next challenge. Challenging times require a new viewpoint and willingness toward making changes if something we did before no longer serves us any more or as well as it once did.

At this time, what i am most excited about is what is going on now and what the future holds for all of us. To quote author Lee Carroll, “Things are not always as they seem.” I can attest to that personally. Our future is actually much brighter than most modern day media casters would have us believe. The economy has indeed taken a huge hit as a result of many areas that need a set of fresh ideas and better stewards-examples in leadership roles. But these moments in my own experience are the moments from which our better future is born from.

If you want to get a glimpse of the not too distant future and If you want to gain a better sense of what I am about, please take a few moments to check out the video about ETT on one of my other pages. It’s pretty cool stuff. Moving around the globe will never be the same. And an entirely new economic situation will be emerging as a result of the development of ETT that is a compelling situation in and of itself. Expect to see much writing from me about ETT. The wealth generated by the emergence of this compelling technology will create millionaires, billionaires and ultra billionaires unlike anything we have seen before. To provide an idea of the potential, consider that today, transportation overall revenue is about $8.5 Trillion USD globally. ETT will capture 90% of that in time while increasing and expanding that number through ultra high efficiency and sustainability and expansion of new markets no previously servable. This may seem far fetched at first but I will explain why it is not in a later post.

Literally, we are in for the ride of our lives. The vision that has shown itself to me in recent years is a compelling and potentially very positive one that I wish to share with everyone. In doing so, I intend to invite everyone that I know along for that ride and will share as much information as I have with you so everyone can enjoy the best of what lies ahead.

Much more to say and again, I would love to hear from you real soon.

Bye for now,

Anthony

Isn’t it great when someone is so confident in what they create that they are willing to give it away for free? If I see potential value in a product, the way that I look at it, I will always consider something new if it creates convenience, makes my life easier and helps me accomplish what I am trying to do so I can focus in other areas of my life. Pretty simple. For my online life, I’m looking for productivity and automation where ever I can find it. So when its free, it’s always great to know that I can try something out to see how effective it is and then if it works, I’m usually willing to buy from that situation rather than from someone who is trying to hard sell me.

What is Viral Tweets? The short of it is that it is supposed to help you grow your Twitter Follow and expand your exposure through a viral exponent of re-tweeting. The app is technically free, although, the version that I am using was paid for to get the additional features I wanted. As I am learning more about Viral Tweets and giving it a try to see what it does and how well it works, I would like to share my experiences and tips with others. If you sign up for my newsletter I will notify updates on cool apps and tools that I encounter on Twitter that I find to be credible. Download and try out the free version after trying the re-tweet “Tweet Now” app installed below to see how it works for you. Please also feel free to come back and share your own unique experiences with this interesting little app.

Happy Tweeting!

Anthony
